Arrow Machine Gun

There are many ways to build traps in Minecraft, but here's a fairly simple way to make a machine gun using red stone mechanics. First, you want to place a dispenser facing your left when you're on its left side. Behind it, place a red stone torch. Go one block away from that and one block down, and place a block. Put a red stone torch on that block the same way the dispenser is facing. Make a four-block red stone wire to the right of the dispenser. On the third block of red stone wiring, place a block on each side of the wiring. On the two blocks you place a red stone torch parallel to the red stone circuitry. On the block you just previously placed (the nearest to the dispenser), place red stone wiring on the opposite side of the red stone torch to a red stone switch. If you want increased results in hitting the unsuspected player or mob, place wiring with a pressure plate near by the dispenser.

Types of Traps

So, back to my original subject. I am building a new base for my alliance, and I thought I would share with you some of the traps I might involve in this.

Here's a neat tutorial. Although, I might want to make his "sand water trap" a little bit deeper so the griefer would have to do much more work just to try to grief me.

Here's another video, there's some basic traps, and he's right in saying someone wouldn't just walk onto a pressure plate in the middle of a sand bar. I may actually have to make a minefield just to get rid of these people. Luckily, in using pressure plates and sand, and low light, you can hide your little trap.

There are MANY ways to build a trap in Minecraft as shown above, I think he may have just used the most efficient traps in killing the player.

Pig race

Okay, so I got on my normal server today, and I joined an event-making team (SUPER COOL). I'm supposed to make a pig race, and I thought I would take some screen shots and show you the red stone mechanics, obstacles, etc.

I got off Minecraft for a while, and when I got back, this place was griefed to the max.

I used the x-ray texture pack so you could see the red-stone wiring, unfortunately, I got tired of this and asked my admin friend to clear the land so I could make a simple pig race with wheat.

I got frustrated with red stone (doesn't everybody?) and I decided just to destroy that and build this instead.

Isn't it pretty! I had to postpone the races because  (YET AGAIN) someone griefed all my red stone work . I should've had my admin friend protect this.

(note to Mr. Hom: although the words may be underlined red, griefed, and Minecraft are spelled correctly)

Traps

Okay, so my idea of the Labyrinth kinda faded when i heard 1.2 was comming out soon. So, I've devoted the rest of my 1.1 life to helping my alliance in building a new base. Recently, Someone found our base. SHOCKER since SOMEONE was branch mining for diamonds (wow they're really obsessed with these things). Anyways, our base was filled with lava, and luckily one of my teammates was there to push the griefer into the lava pit. Our new base will be specifically placed under either lava, or water, in which an x-ray texture pack can not find it. The new base will also be surrounded by red stone traps (maybe this will be like a Labyrinth). I may also post pictures and text to show my progress in this.

The Background of the Minecraft Labyrinth

I play on a pvp, griefing allowed server with some friends from school. Unfortunately, most of the players use x-ray texture packs and mods. Using these, they can easily locate underground houses, and storage units. The point of this Labyrinth is to make a complex maze system (yes, I'm making multiple mazes) to kill and confuse all who enter it. The maze system won't (unfortunately) transform and bend to the player's thoughts (I'll have to look into that). The point of the maze is also to hide all my stuff because I've been raided and griefed MANY times by other allies. When I create this Labyrinth, I will be posting many pictures on my progress in its creation. I will also hope to post many videos with voice.

Daedalus

Daedalus was known as a skillful craftsman and artisan. The first mention of Daedalus' name is by Homer as the creator of a wide dancing ground for Ariadne. He also is mentioned as the creator of the ancient Labyrinth of Crete.

Labyrinth- background

In this blog, I will probably end up posting many pictures of a labyrinth I'm making in a survival world. For now, here's some background on the ancient Greek myth of the Labyrinth.

The ancient Labyrinth was designed by Daedalus for the king of Crete Minos. It was built to hold the ancient myth of the half-man half-bull Minotaur. The ancient Minotaur was eventually killed by the Athenian hero Thesis who was able to defeat the maze with the help of Ariadne. She provided him with a silken thread so he could find his way out of the tricky maze. Also, Daedalus was said to build the labyrinth so well, that he himself could barely escape it after he built it.

The name "Labyrinth" in English actually is a synonym for our word maze. Many scholars actually dispute the translation of this name, for a maze refers to the complex branching system with choices of path and direction. While the single path Labyrinth just spirals and leads to the center.

The unicursal "seven course" pattern of the Labyrinth depicted the pattern on coins as early as 430 BC. Labyrinths are seen everywhere from designs on pottery and baskets, also as tattoos, and etched on walls of many monuments or buildings. The Romans often built many labyrinth designs on walls or floors in tile or mosaic. Labyrinths have been used in private meditation, and also in group meditation.

Labyrinth  originated in the pre-Greek origin absorbed by Classical Greek, and may be related to the Lydian labrys (a symbol of royal power, which supports the theory that the Labyrinth was originally a Minoan palace on Crete). A lot of these Lydian labrys were found in a Minoan palace and usually were related with female goddesses.

Finally, shown above is a picture of the Classical Labyrinth.
